Capturing a smile or a sunset in a photograph has always been a passion for Nicholas Assef. Since the age of 8 or 9 and a humble introduction to photography by his father, Assef had a love for the art. Once he had that first Minolta 101 in his hands – state-of-the-art at the time – Assef knew it was more the casual picture taking; photography was a hobby worth pursuing as much as possible. And his adventures led him and the camera to snapping worthwhile images not only in his homeland of Australia, but also throughout the Americas, Middle East Asia and the Pacific.
Technology eventually replaced the previous camera and Assef’s skills continued to develop (no pun intended). In March 2016, he created Nicholas Assef Fine Art Photography, a picture project that will benefit charity 100%. All profits generated from the sales of products – products now created with a Canon 1DX for digital and a Hasselblad XPAN 2 for film – raise money for Australian children charities. As a result of personal medical conditions experienced years ago, Assef noticed a lack of funding and decided to help through the means he was able – by sharing his photographic images. From beach life photography to panoramic, black and white, or pictures of Sydney, Assef aims to raise dollars toward these notable and worthy causes.
